The MSc Aviation Finance Degree is the only degree of its type in Europe and provides students with direct exposure to the aviation finance industry. The programme equips students with the skills and knowledge to excel in this dynamic sector.
The MSc Aviation Finance has truly exceeded my expectations and I am now completing a six-month internship with AerCap, the world’s largest independent aircraft leasing company. The programme has advanced my understanding of all aspects of aviation finance especially, global aviation markets. There is a huge focus on group work in this programme and this has helped to develop my interpersonal and leadership skills. If you are going to complete this master’s programme, you have to be prepared to work extremely hard. If you are interested in the industry and have a good work ethic, then you will have no issue.
The internship option for the summer term is an excellent addition to the programme. It is important to be aware that not every student is guaranteed an internship. For prospective students looking to secure an internship, my advice would be to start working on your CV and cover letter as soon as possible. The careers centre in the Smurfit Graduate Business School provides a great service and you can book an appointment to get your application (CV, cover letter, etc.) reviewed before you submit your application. There are qualified personnel on hand to give you the tools and advice to secure that internship spot.
The class trip to Airbus headquarters in Toulouse was one of the highlights of the programme. Toulouse is the site for many Airbus divisions. We got tours of the production locations for numerous Airbus aircraft (including the A320 and A330). We also got a tour of facilities dedicated to cabin furnishing and painting.
The MSc Aviation Finance is an excellent programme and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others interested in getting into the aviation finance industry.
