About the Programme 

The Ryanair Maintenance & Engineering apprenticeship is a structured four-year training programme that gives the successful candidates the opportunity to join Europe’s largest airline. Apprentices train to become a fully qualified aircraft maintenance engineer and work on their impressive fleet of modern, sophisticated Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The apprenticeship is a mixture of on-the-job, practical experience phases at Dublin Airport and off-the-job, mostly theoretical phases run by SOLAS in conjunction with Shannon Aviation Maintenance School and Technological University Dublin 

 

Entry Requirements 

  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude 
  • Eligibility to live and work in Ireland 
  • Excellent English (both written and verbal) 
  • Ability to pass a full security background check 
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment 

 

Structure/Content of the Programme 

The programme is structured over four years and is divided into on-the-job (4) and off-the-job (3) phases. The on-the-job phases are conducted at Ryanair maintenance & engineering facilities in Dublin Airport. Off-the-job phases are completed in accordance with SOLAS and are usually completed at Shannon Aviation Maintenance School in Shannon, Co. Clare which lasts nine months. The first two years of the programme are aimed at obtaining an EASA CAT A aircraft mechanic license. The remaining two years are aimed at obtaining either a CAT B1 (mechanical) or B2 (avionics) license and the off-the-job phases are completed at Technological University Dublin, Bolton Street campus.

Qualifications 

Upon successful completion of the programme, the candidates will be awarded; 

  • QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft – Aircraft Mechanics. 
  • EASA Part66 CAT A & B1 or B2 Aircraft Mechanic Licenses.  

 The EASA licenses are recognised in all member states throughout the EU. Not only does the license qualify one as an aircraft engineer, but they also open many doors in the aviation industry, which helps significantly for future career progression if desired.   

 Remuneration  

Candidates are paid an incremental training allowance over the four years of the programme. Ryanair pays during the on-the-job phases and SOLAS pay during the off-the-job phases.
