Air Corps Pilot Cadetship 

About the Program: An Air Corps Cadet enlists for a Cadetship to become a Pilot Officer in the Defence Forces. Cadets will complete the Cadet Training Course in the Military College and then go on to the Flight Training School in the Air Corps College. After completion of their training, pilots will fly various aircraft in the Air Corps’ fleet of fixed-wing and rotary aircraft. The Air Corps is set to receive new aircraft in the coming years including the Pilatus PC-12 ISR and CASA 295 MPA. 

 Entry Requirements 

  • Age: Between 18 and 26 on a specified date prior to induction   
  • Education: Minimum Grade H5 in 3 Higher Level papers and 3 Grade O6/H6   
  • Citizenship: Citizen of the State or legal entitlement to live and work in the State 
  • Other: Meet the required minimum standards of medical and physical fitness (see www.military.ie for more information on requirements)

  • Military Training (17 months) 
  • Commissioning as an Officer 
  • Wings Course (15 months)

Remuneration: €19,255 per annum rising to a maximum of €30,828 (DF Pay Scales) 

  • Note: Accommodation, Food, Uniform and Healthcare are provided by the Defence Forces throughout training
