The Irish Aviation Students’ Association is a non-profit entity, established and run by a group of dedicated third level students from various universities and colleges around Ireland.

IASA’s main purpose is to connect aviation-passionate students with the Industry, and to discover and develop opportunities that will shape the future of aviation in Ireland and beyond.

OUR AIMS

We are governed by the following aims:

  • To raise awareness to the industry as to the number of students involved in aviation-related courses
  • To highlight the roles available to students who want to pursue a career in the aviation industry
  • To discuss the current issues and developments faced by the industry so to identify future trends
  • To discover how students can effectively contribute to the development of the aviation sector
  • To inspire the next generation of aviation professionals
  • To facilitate networking between; students, lecturers and professionals
  • To identify how the industry can create more opportunities for students
  • To encourage capital fundraising to support innovative projects and scholarships
  • To endorse the provision of internships

Chairperson

Bridget Studied Aircraft Systems in IT Carlow and graduated with a distinction in 2016. She then completed a 3 month Internship at CIT Aerospace before returning to Studies at Queen’s University Belfast. She is entering her final year of Aerospace Engineering. During the Summer she took on an internship at SMBC AC where she worked closely with the Technical Asset Management.

Secretary

Ross recently graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts (B.A) degree from University College Dublin (UCD) where he majored in Economics and Geography. In his final year, he specialised in Transport and International Trade Economics and the Globalisation of the World.

Ross has always had a life-long passion for aviation, with a particular interest in airline operations. He hopes to pursue a master’s degree in Aviation Management in the near future.

Treasurer

Shane is logical, proactive and determined in all aspects of his work, educational and personal goals. He is a positive team player who desires constant challenges on all levels.

He is a graduate of the University of Limerick with a BBS. in Accounting and Finance and is now an Associate Consultant with a professional services firm based in Dublin, alongside this he is studying for his ACA exams with Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI).

Shane has always had a passion for business, however more specifically, business, within the scope of the aviation industry. As a result, Shane wants to help bridge the gap between the next generation of aviation professionals with current professionals within the industry by being a part of IASA.

Long-term, Shane wishes to pursue airline finance, strategy and operations.

Andreea is currently doing her part-time MSc. in Digital Marketing in Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. Prior to this, she graduated with a 1:1 honours degree in Logistics & Supply Chain, in DIT.
She is a driven individual who always aspires for personal growth and a new challenge. Andreea is also the digital marketing manager for a successful startup Travel WiFi. Alongside she has developed an entrepreneurial spirit and as a result she is now the Co-founder of AirCrewser startup. She is excited and proud to be part of the IASA team. She believes that the future is in the hands of those who make it.

Jay is currently studying an MSc in Digital Marketing at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. He is excited to see the incredible and valued role digital marketers have in the industry. Merging is his love for travel, aeroplanes and digital marketing he aspires through his role as a digital marketing executive to communicate IASA’s vision of connectivity between students and the leading experts of the aviation industry through awareness and engagement.

For once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will long to return.

Jordan is a third year Computer Science student at Trinity College Dublin. He is passionate about aviation and technology and loves to combine the two. He is currently the Web Developer and all-round tech guy for IASA. Jordan hopes to eventually become a commercial airline pilot.

Student Engagement - Team Leader

Cián is a second year student studying Aviation Management in Dublin City University. Cián is currently working within Aer Lingus’ Ground Operations team where he is gaining an inside knowledge that will give help him during his career. Cián has also been recently appointed as vice – chairperson of DCU Aviation Society. Cián strives for excellence in the work that he does. He hopes to pursue a career within airline management.

Student Engagement Officer

Jobin Joseph Prince is a forth year Aeronautical Engineering student at the University of Limerick. He has previously worked as a Technical Asset Management (TAM) assistant at AWAS as part of his Cooperative education. He has always been fond of machines that fly and is driven to explore the various sectors in aviation. As student opportunity coordinator, he is focused to bridge the gap between students and the aviation industry. Understanding the future growth of the industry and making future pioneers aware of the unique, spectacular characteristics of aviation is one of the main goals that he wishes to achieve by joining IASA.

Gareth is a final year student of a BB in Business and Management with Chinese in Dundalk Institute of Technology. Gareth believes Ireland’s aviation sector is undoubtedly impressive but as one of the newest student engagement officer of IASA he wishes to inspire the next generation of aviation professionals.
After his final year in Dundalk IT, Gareth will undertake one year of a BB in Aviation Management at Institute of Technology Carlow commencing in September 2018. He is thrilled and proud to be part of the IASA team.

Student Engagement Officer

Jemma is a final year student on the Aviation Management with Pilot Studies degree at DCU. She has worked with the IAA as a summer intern and has undertaken projects from SESAR alongside her colleagues. She has a specific interest in Human Factors and Air Traffic Management (ATM) Technologies. She hopes to pursue a career as a Human Factors expert within the evolving technologies within ATM.

Dreams and ideas can always become reality if one dares to follow them.

Alexandra is a dynamic self-starter and a highly motivated individual with a passion for aviation and entrepreneurship. Strong negotiator and influencer with a focus to bring value to the business. A brand ambassador, guest speaker and marketeer who is opportunity focused. Her past experience includes working with FPG Amentum and Avolon as well as providing business development consultancy to a number of aviation start-ups such as Aircrewser, Aviofit Consultancy and Regal Jets Investment Management.

She is a graduate of Dublin Institute of Technology, having successfully completed her studies in BEngTech. in Aviation Technology with Distinction.

Co-Founder

Carl is a proud Co-Founder of IASA and continues to offer support in an advisory capacity. He holds a BEngTech in Aviation Technology and BSc in Transport Operations & Technology from Dublin Institute of Technology. His interests lie in aircraft operations and continuing airworthiness and he is currently pursuing further education in the field. While at DIT he was an integral part of the Aeronautical Society Committee, serving as Chairperson, Secretary and Health & Safety Officer, helping to generate more interest in aviation among students. Carl also holds a Private Pilot’s Licence and enjoys flying in his free time.

Co-Founder

As one of the IASA founders, Andrei believes this association will make a great platform for students to open doors to future opportunities within the aviation industry. Andrei recently graduated with a First-class Honours the BSc. in Transport Operations and Technology at Dublin Institute of Technology and he also has a degree in BSc. of Engineering in Aviation Technology from the same college. Throughout the courses, he developed an interest in aircraft initial and continuing airworthiness and he aspires to enhance his knowledge in the aviation industry with a focus on the aviation legislation and regulatory framework, DO and MRO operations. Last summer Andrei pursued an internship with Part 21 Design and this year he works for the same company (known as Aero Inspection Part 21), holding the Technical Services Engineer position.
