The Irish Aviation Students’ Association is a non-profit entity, established and run by a group of dedicated third level students from various universities and colleges around Ireland.

IASA’s main purpose is to connect aviation-passionate students with the Industry, and to discover and develop opportunities that will shape the future of aviation in Ireland and beyond.


We are governed by the following aims:

  • To raise awareness to the industry as to the number of students involved in aviation-related courses
  • To highlight the roles available to students who want to pursue a career in the aviation industry
  • To discuss the current issues and developments faced by the industry so to identify future trends
  • To discover how students can effectively contribute to the development of the aviation sector
  • To inspire the next generation of aviation professionals
  • To facilitate networking between; students, lecturers and professionals
  • To identify how the industry can create more opportunities for students
  • To encourage capital fundraising to support innovative projects and scholarships
  • To endorse the provision of internships

Dreams and ideas can always become reality if one dares to follow them.

Alexandra is a dynamic self-starter and a highly motivated individual with a passion for aviation and entrepreneurship. Strong negotiator and influencer with a focus to bring value to the business. A brand ambassador, guest speaker and marketeer who is opportunity focused. Her past experience includes working with FPG Amentum and Avolon as well as providing business development consultancy to a number of aviation start-ups such as Aircrewser, Aviofit Consultancy and Regal Jets Investment Management.

She is a graduate of Dublin Institute of Technology, having successfully completed her studies in BEngTech. in Aviation Technology with Distinction.

Co-Founder & Internal Policies Advisor

Carl is currently undertaking the final year of a BSc in Transport Operations and Technology at Dublin Institute of Technology having returned to education as a mature student earning a BEngTech degree in Aviation Technology. He has also been part of the DIT Aeronautical Society Committee, serving in the roles of Chairperson, Secretary and Health & Safety Officer, helping to generate more interest in aviation among students. He is proud to be a founding member of the IASA team. Carl also holds a Private Pilot’s Licence and enjoys the challenges of flying in his free time.

Co-Founder & Marketing Executive

As one of the IASA founders, Andrei believes this association will make a great platform for students to open doors to future opportunities within the aviation industry. Andrei graduated with Distinction the BSc of Engineering in Aviation Technology at Dublin Institute of Technology and he is currently enrolled in the final year of BSc in Transport Operations and Technology at the same college. Throughout the course, he developed an interest in aircraft overhauling and maintenance which led him to pursue a qualified aircraft mechanic license by taking the EASA part 66 exams. Andrei not only plays a key role in the IASA but also heavily contributed to the Aeronautical Society DIT, previously holding roles such as Treasurer and Vice Chairperson. His commitment to the society throughout the years led to his nomination as the Chairperson for the 2016-2017 academic year. Andrei aspires to enhance his knowledge in the aviation industry with a focus on the aviation legislation and regulatory framework, DO and MRO operation modes and finally, the management and financing of aircraft assets. His passion for aviation and hard work of the last years helped Andrei to secure a summer work placement with the Part 21 Design, holding the position of Technical Services Engineer. .

Student Engagement Officer

Ciarán is a final year student on the Aviation Management with Pilot Studies degree programme in DCU. Currently, he is working as Operations Support in the Ferry Flights department in CAE Parc Aviation after finishing his period as an Intern.

As of recent, he was promoted to the role of Senior Student Ambassador in DCU where he acts as team leader for a group of 38 DCU Student Ambassadors. As well as this, he has Co-Founded the DCU Aviation Society during March 2016 where they since had trips to Casement Aerodrome and Concorde, Manchester. So far, he has represented the Aviation Management course at the Professional Flight Training Exhibition, whilst also having taken part in the DCU Mentorship programme where he was paired with a current long-haul Captain.

He is hoping to pursue a career in Flight Operations and is particularly driven to become an airline pilot.

Digital Marketing Executive

Andreea is currently doing her part-time MSc. in Digital Marketing in Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. Prior to this, she graduated with a 1:1 honours degree in Logistics & Supply Chain, in DIT.
She is a driven individual who always aspires for personal growth and a new challenge. Andreea is also the digital marketing manager for a successful startup Travel WiFi. Alongside she has developed an entrepreneurial spirit and as a result she is now the Co-founder of AirCrewser startup. She is excited and proud to be part of the IASA team. She believes that the future is in the hands of those who make it.

Student Engagement Officer

Bridget is a recent graduate from IT Carlow where she studied for a BEng in Aircraft Systems where she received a distinction in her degree.
She is currently a summer intern with SMBC, having previously worked with CIT Aerospace International. Bridget is and has been an active member of a number of associations including the IT Carlow Engineering Society and the set up of the WAI Irish Chapter.

ross quinless

Ross is one of the newest members of IASA and is a final year student in UCD where he is majoring in Economics and Geography, specialising in Transport and International Trade Economics and the Globalisation of the World.

He has life-long passion for aviation and hopes that by joining IASA it will deepen his knowledge of the industry, especially in areas which would be of particular interest to him. He also looks forward to learning about new areas within the industry.

As the student engagement officer for 3rd level non-aviation students, Ross hopes to expand IASA’s awareness in UCD. Thus making students aware of the different aspects the aviation industry has to offer. He is also in the process of establishing an Aviation Society in UCD.

Ross is hoping to pursue a career in network planning with an ultimate goal of becoming an airline pilot.


Shane is logical, proactive and determined in all aspects of his work, educational and personal goals. He is a positive team player who desires constant challenges on all levels.

He is a graduate of the University of Limerick with a BBS. in Accounting and Finance and is now an Associate Consultant with a professional services firm based in Dublin, alongside this he is studying for his ACA exams with Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI).

Shane has always had a passion for business, however more specifically, business, within the scope of the aviation industry. As a result, Shane wants to help bridge the gap between the next generation of aviation professionals with current professionals within the industry by being a part of IASA.

Long-term, Shane wishes to pursue airline finance, strategy and operations.

Student Opportunity Coordinator

Jobin Joseph Prince is a third year Aeronautical Engineering student at the University of Limerick. He is currently working as a TAM assistant at AWAS as part of his Cooperative education. He has always been fond of machines that fly and is driven to explore the various sectors in aviation. As student opportunity coordinator, he is focused to bridge the gap between students and the aviation industry. Understanding the future growth of the industry and making future pioneers aware of the unique, spectacular characteristics of aviation is one of the main goals that he wishes to achieve by joining IASA.
